International Cooperation Base for Sino-New Zealand Computational Intelligence on Environmental Engineering

On 20th April, the unveiling ceremony of International Cooperation Base for Sino-New Zealand Computational Intelligence on Environmental Engineering was opened in Wuhan University. The Base is targeting at improving the environmental protection quality and scientific research level.
 

Dr. Rick Ede from Unitec, Andrew Watkins from NIWA, Al Ross, the Counsellor of Science and Innovation from New Zealand Embassy in China, Shu Hongbing, the vice principle of Wuhan University, Du Yun, the deputy director of Hubei Bureau of Science and Technology and Yang Zhiguo, CEO of LJDY attended the ceremony.
 


Shu Hongbing, the vice principle of Wuhan University addressed a speech that Wuhan University wished to collaborate with New Zealand parties in environmental science and computation science for mutual benefits since they are experienced in environmental monitoring, simulation and protection.


Dr. Rick Ede expressed his wishes to promote futher cooperation of both countries considering the unveiling ceremony was held during the New Zealand Prime Minister’s visit to China.


According to Dr. Yang Zhiguo’s speech, LJDY has been devoted to the technical integration and innovation of “3S(GIS/GNSS/RS)+C(Communication)”. He believes that the foundation of the Base will benefit the society and improve the relation between two countries.


Dr. Rick Ede from Unitec, Andrew Watkins from NIWA, Shu Hongbing, the vice principle of Wuhan University and Yang Zhiguo, CEO of LJDY unveiled the Base together. 


In the afternoon, Dr. Ede Rick and Andrew Watkins with their team took a visit to LJDY. Dr. Yang Zhiguo gave a introduction of LJDY’s technical achievements and the product application. They also had a discussion on smart protection technology and CIEE development.

CIEE

CIEE is established jointly by LJDY, Wuhan University, Unitec and NIWA. CIEE mainly focuses on information technology application in environmental protection. Through joint research, it aims to cultivate talents in environmental protection science, improve the information level of environment governance in both countries and serve the development in environmental protection science.

 
Founded in 1976, UNITEC is the largest institute of technology in New Zealand with over 25000 students including 1500 international students from over 80 countries. It offers leading employment-focused education with special designed courses by experts and provides theoretical and practical courses.

 


NIWA is a major research center on environmental science and application research in New Zealand. Its specialty lies in environmental study and consultation service, assisting people and companies to utilize natural resources properly.
